Being a college athlete isn't just about mastering your sport; it's also a journey of personal growth and development. Throughout my time as a college athlete, I encountered various challenges and experiences that taught me valuable lessons beyond the field. Here are five key insights that have shaped my journey in personal development.

1. Nutrition is Crucial:

As a college athlete, I quickly learned the importance of nutrition for both physical and mental performance. Growing up with a family history of health issues like high blood pressure and diabetes, I understood the significance of choosing natural, whole foods. However, it wasn't until college that I fully grasped the impact of proper hydration and electrolyte balance on performance. Incorporating carbohydrates before high-intensity workouts became a game-changer, highlighting the essential role of nutrition in athletic success.

2. Resistance Training is Key:

In high school, I underestimated the benefits of consistent resistance training, often skipping workouts and neglecting to lead by example. However, upon entering college, where competition was fiercer, I realized the importance of prioritizing weightlifting and resistance training. Beyond building muscle and burning fat, resistance training taught me discipline, perseverance, and the importance of focusing on form over weight.
